Nellore and Points Southwest.
Kumar and I are on the third day of a four day road trip. I am at the Hotel Bliss in Tirupiti. I taught at Tiruvallure, Nellore and Renigunta.
D Paul did not come along for yesterday and today so I had a different interpreter. I was hard work for him, but it went well. On some expressions he asked what I meant. Sometimes he, I and the class worked together to find the words. But again the teaching comes across to the men. At Nellore the electricity went off at the start of the lesson. It teased us with spurts of power, but it did not come on until we were finished. It was very hot and stuffy. I and the translater had the door by us, but the men suffered and kept listening.
Today at Renigunta we had good discussion of the meanings of parables. I felt the men were focusing on some new thoughts and finding that they might use them. These men do know their Bibles. And they are eager to read the verses we are referring to. I am getting my examples to be more fitting for their knowlege. They smile when I tell about teaching my grandchildren.
Yesterday after class I spent a couple hours with Moses talking and working on internet on my computer. Then he took me on a fun motorcycle ride to buy pencils. I wish I could have made a video clip of it. On a motorcycle a person does not have personal space. There may be a bicyclist, a woman holding a baby, a truck mud flap or a pedestrian right next to me, stopped or moving.
The driving is going well. I have more time in the hotels because we usually do not have to drive as far.
I will teach at Putur on the way back to Chennai tomorrow.
