5 July

Today was intentionally very low key.  Calls were made to some local people to make final arrangements for the upcoming pastoral conference.   We flooded my favorite photocopy guy with a good day’s worth of business reproducing booklets of the 14 pamphlets on various Christian teachings, a quiz on the catechism and sections of “Teaching Law and Gospel”  for the week of teacher seminars and seminary classes at Etago and Chotororo.  We also headed on down to the supermarket to pick up some essentials.  Bread, peanut butter, jelly, and honey are the staples for our dinner time fare.  We do get a pretty complete breakfast as part of the room here at the unparalleled Jazz Hotel in downtown Kisii.  Pineapple, finger bananas, watermelon, mystery fruit that looks like it came out of someone’s nose, hard boiled eggs, toast, coffee (or coke), and service with a smile.  While at the supermarket we were able to price some of the items we may be purchasing en masse on Monday before heading over to St. David’s School in Etago for distributing their Christmas gifts.  After artfully placing the rabbit ears in a “broken V” configuration, the world cup matches are coming in.  Yes, ninety percent of the world loves their football.  This was a good chance to rest up since we’ll be on the move from here on out, whether it be traveling to and form Etago and Chotororo , around the Moi’s Bridge area, or into Uganda and back.  It was nice to stay out of a vehicle for today.  Pastor Enosh will be coming at “exactly 8” in the morning to take us out to church in Chotororo.  Word on the street is that there will be ten baptisms taking place tomorrow.  Anna’s Bible Passage of the Day Isaiah 26:3 “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace.  Because he trusts in You.”  Take care, everyone and thank you for all the support and prayers.
