From the Field                                                        February 24, 2014
Yearly
We have found through experience that it is best to visit each mission field we share with overseas brothers each year, except where we have resident missionaries. This helps to cement our fellowship relationship as well as gives us the opportunities to share in glorious work of Preaching and Teaching.  We can also better assess how we can help our brothers and sisters. And if we discover things that aught not to be, it gives us the advantage to help nip such in the bud. It is far better to be pre-emptive than to have to help clean up a long-standing problem later. For instance some forty years ago the NCLC Board was headed by a man who was not a member of our church. This was in the days when we made sporadic visits. Once we found out about it the problem was resolved.
Recently, I had the joy of being in Myanmar and teaching a two day seminar at Yangon for Pastor Charles Edwards who is applying for fellowship with us. His organization is called the National Lutheran Church. We had a total of 182 in the two day seminar with many not of our public confession, but who heard the truth of the Word that we teach. Each year now there will  be this visit to Yangon.
In the CLC of Myanmar on the border of Chin State I was very glad to have a four day seminar with our people. Nearly all were members who came down from the congregations in the Chin Hills to study and learn. Pastor Thang is head of the church, while Pastor Kham is secretary. We had great good fellowship in these venues. It is truly God-pleasing that we can work together as we are in full agreement on God’s Word. These yearly visits seek to have us continue in the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace.
