Done and Done
Back in Matunda at long last. After a punishing five weeks on the road it feels good to be in the familiar confines of Matunda town. We were truly blessed with safe travels the entire way and incurred minimal loss of health and maximal loss of weight. We laughed, we cried, we wanted to strangle each other by the end of the trip…or at least engage in fisticuffs.
Much of the itinerary was tossed out like a soiled hanky. It had been decided that time was better spent remaining for a longer duration at our teaching institutions in Arusha, Tanzania and Kisii, Kenya. This gave us a chance to dig in and cover a lot more ground than one or two days can allow. Still, it is not enough. There is more than enough work in our training institutions alone to keep a small team of missionaries occupied. Pray to the Lord of the harvest that He would raise up a laborer(s) in this field and supply the means enable his work.
We’ve had a fine time up north here. We were able to get together up at church on Saturday. The biggest surprise of all was that nearly all of the school kids came out to see our visitors. Head teacher Agnes told them that there would be guests at church. “Tutakuja asubuhi!!!” We will come in the morning! Wild pigs could not have kept them away, which at times is a possibility. Russ was able to do his lesson on Jonah and Nathanael shared a Word. This morning (Sunday) I waited with them by the roadside for their non-stop shuttle to come by on its way from Kitale to Nairobi. As for me, I’m already down to about two months remaining here…at least for this go-round. I’ve got an inkling that I’ll be back. For now, I’ll be recuperating for the next couple of days at home. Which, coincidentally is my home away from home, not to be confused with my home away from home away from home.
