How many sem students do you teach?
What classes?
Who teaches when you are not there?
Wow – a seminary on a bike – cool!
A little background on the seminary in Chotororo…
Up until recently all the of the affiliated churches in the CLC East Africa would send their seminary students to one place in Tanzania. St. Peter’s seminary in Himo, Tanzania (near Moshi, if you want to see it on a map.) With the recent troubles at Himo, we are unable to use that building currently. In the meantime two separate, temporary seminaries have started operating. One in the Kisii, Kenya area (Chotororo) and one in Arusha, Tanzania. With resources now being divided, the seminaries are not able to operate on a full-time basis. I am assisting with the seminary in Chotororo while I am in Kenya. Pastors Fred Ogendo and Joseph Nyaribo are the area pastors who have been doing an astounding job of training these young men. They meet for one week each month since that is all that the budget currently can sustain. During the first week that I was there I taught Biblical Interpretation, Gospels, and Beginning Greek. There are currently 4 students, but the next time we meet there will be a total of 10 in this location. It’s a beautiful location in the hills outside of Kisii, but it does take some doing to get up there, a motorbike is the only efficient means to get up to the seminary itself.
